Taken over in 2005 by Richard and Dee Slade, Battlesteads has quickly gained a reputation for its character and warm welcome as a friendly, family run hotel.

Battlesteads has 17 en-suite rooms with colour television, DVD, freeview, ironing boards and hairdryer, all have been carefully modernised to provide comfortable accommodation. Four ground floor rooms have facilities for the disabled and are within easy, level, access of the bar, restaurant and parking.

Broadband access is available in all rooms. Pets are welcome (by prior arrangement).

As a warning to mobile phone addicts: unfortunately Wark does not have a signal for any mobile network and your phones won’t work here (good excuse to chill out properly).

The spectacular photographs of Tynedale in each of the bedrooms are all by local photographer Roger Clegg and copies can be ordered, or are available as postcards.

Walkers & Cyclists

Walkers, Ramblers, Cyclists and Motorcyclists are most welcome.

The dale has many walks and routes of varying length and difficulty, we have maps of some of the more popular routes for guests to consult.

We can provide packed lunches on request and we have secure storage for cycles.

Cycle hire and luggage pick-up and drop-off service is available – ask for details.

Pet friendly

Dogs and cats are welcome, sharing a ground floor room with their owner, at a small extra charge of £5.00 per night.

We request that you bring your own pets bedding and, if possible, a cage.

Accessibilty

All public areas of the hotel are at ground floor and provide convenient access for guests who are disabled or have difficulty walking.

Disabled parking bays are situated close to the hotel entrance.

All ground floor rooms have low level light switches, plugs and emergency alarms. Two rooms have 'wet rooms' and sit down shower facilities.

Breakfasts

A good breakfast is the best way to start your day; at Battlesteads you can choose a tasty, light continental breakfast, full cooked breakfast, or both.
Wherever possible we source the best fresh, local produce to give you a real taste of Northumberland. Our bacon is home-cured, kippers and haddock are supplied from Bywell Smokery and our free-range eggs are from Oxenrigg Farm, Coldstream.

CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST from 7.00am
Please help yourself to our wide range of fresh and dried fruits, cereals, muesli, yoghurts, ham, cheese, toast, jams, and freshly squeezed fruit juices available in the breakfast room.

COOKED BREAKFAST from 7.30am
All of our cooked breakfasts are freshly made to order, so it is important to fill in your form the night before and attend for breakfast at your indicated time.

For a light breakfast choose Porridge or Boiled eggs.

FULL ENGLISH BREAKFAST
Our traditional breakfast, freshly cooked from your selection of: Home-cured bacon, Pork sausage, Black pudding, Mushrooms, Grilled tomatoes, Baked beans, 'Light' butter-fried bread and Egg – choose from Fried, Poached or Scrambled. Or try the whole lot and sit in the lounge for an hour reading the morning papers.
