Sir Gawain and the Green Knight
Belsay Hall, Castle & Gardens
Sat 9th Aug 2014 to Sun 10th Aug 2014
11:00am to 5:00pm
This Summer, discover myths and legends at Belsay, including that of the Wildman, a mythical character who was a symbol of strength and the untamed. The headless statues of the Belsay Wildman and Wildwoman now sit guarding the Pillar Hall. During weekends throughout the summer holidays, Sir Gawain, a knight from King Arthur’s Round Table, will entertain visitors. Legend has it that Sir Gawain beheaded a mysterious fellow, perhaps a Wildman? This fascinating tale reveals lessons of honour and chivalry, noble traits that we’ll be teaching visitors during chivalry school and courtly dancing.
